Cameron's "blazing row" with rabble rouser

Heartened to see Tory leader David Cameron didn't shy away from confronting chair of Birmingham mosque about his anglophobic rabble rousing.

After the terror raids last week, Mohammad Nasseem, chairman of Birmingham Central Mosque, declared Muslims in Britain were now like Jews in Nazi Germany, and that the Government was inventing the threat of terrorism to justify imposing a police state.

On the steps of the mosque, Cameron responded: “He’s completely and utterly wrong and I think that’s not responsible at all. It’s quite clear from the events of 7/7 and other events that Britain does face a terrorist threat and we need to confront that and defeat it. We have the rule of law, we have an independent police force and they do an extremely good job.”

Elsewhere in the Times is a moving article by Zeeshan Hashmion, brother of Lance Corporal Jabron Hashmi, who died in Sangin, Afghanistan, on July 1, 2006.

As individuals, we ought to be more open and receptive in our approach towards fellow humans, in peace time or in conflict. “For those who have had to fight for it, Life has truly a flavour the protected shall never know.”
